We are delighted to invite you to participate in the 11th International Conference on Systems Biology which will be held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre, (EICC), Edinburgh, UK on 10 - 16 October 2010. The Scottish Bioinformatics Forum, Centre for Systems Biology at Edinburgh and Edinburgh Centre for Bioinformatics are proud to jointly host the 11th International Conference on Systems Biology Edinburgh, Scotland’s capital is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. It is renowned for its history and architectural grandeur, its cultural vibrancy and the beauty of its surrounding countryside. It is also home to the Scottish Parliament and boasts a modern, state-of-the-art conference centre.

The 11th International Conference on Systems Biology continues an annual series of conferences initiated by Hiroaki Kitano in Tokyo in 2000, and follows on from the successful meetings in Gothenburg, (2008), Long Beach (2007), and Yokohama (2006). ICSB attracts a truly international audience, with over 1000 delegates from 43 countries participating last year. Systems biology takes a holistic view on biology and aims at elucidating design principles of whole biological systems rather than of individual biomolecules or single events. National agencies around the world are currently investing heavily into the development of systems biology and centres are being generated in many places, often in close vicinity to excellent academic and entrepreneurial environments.

It is generally believed that systems biology will transform biology from a descriptive to a predictive science, making it possible to understand, explain, predict and harness the power and complexity of biological processes. We are looking forward to a very successful Conference; one which reflects our strategy of mixing science and topical issues with the latest advances in technology and research, to create an integral event in which the needs of commercial companies as well as delegates are fully met.
